Enchanting Movie Night

Don't be silly, fortune cookies ALWAYS come true! =P

I am totally cool with making fun of movies I love. To understand exactly how much I love this movie, perhaps it would help to understand that I am an enormous fan of Ray Harryhausen and stop-motion in general.

But if you want a few more highlights, I've touched on that in today's vote incentive!

Hey guys! Let's try a new thing!
I am going to put a link to my paypal account as a sort of digital tip jar. But here's the cool thing: if you donate any amount at all, there is a fat animal in it for you. A wallpaper-sized fat animal. I'll send it to everyone who donates, and like most fat animals, it's for a limited time - just this month. But this time, everyone has a chance to collect it, not just the midnight refreshers!
Here is the link and preview:

Yeah, it is -- I think I might have to see it. Though I'll admit that I'm pretty sure the only reason I'm excited about it is that they used one of my favourite songs in the initial trailer.

Shallow? Me? Nawwwwww. XD

What? No lycanthropy?! Dang, what a rip-off!

I remember seeing about the first half of the original CotT at a friend's house at a Halloween party. Unfortunately, I couldn't see the second half because I had to help chaperone the kids as they went on their candy walk.

Frankly I've always thought that Ray Harryhausen was an excellent special effects man (considering how low the budgets tended to be and how primitive the technology of the time was), but was only a fair-to-middlin' director. (I've never been able to watch any of his movies without being bored and wanting to change the channel.)

That seems like a fair analysis! I do love his effects, but it does seem like Ray Harryhausen movies are best watched with a room full of good-humoured people making comments. XD

Maybe next time the lycanthropy thing will happen. Just like how I keep waiting for those long overdue Spider Powers I've always wanted!

And I love the original Clash of the Titans. Something I always used to watch with my dad as a kid, so it always brings fond memories of a simpler time! I agree with everything you said in the vote incentive, lol!

Aww, but see, the original Clash has some moments like that, but it's no Plan 9, and it has some genuinely excellent stuff in it. (Though I might be biased).
Frankly, I think it's probably an okaaay movie with really wonderful effects but now the whole package is incredibly outdated, haha! So... I dunno what that makes it, really. ^^;

Ahaha, I love your MST3K-style comics. XD (It also makes me realize how awesome and distinct your silhouettes are.)

I am also quite fond of the original Clash of the Titans! Though it's been a while since I've seen it.

Also, I AM WAITING FOR A COMPILATION OF YOUR INCENTIVES AND FAT ANIMALS. :| Print it as a (really big) mini or something plzplzplzplz? D: Or just as extras in a new print run of the comic because hot damn, you have almost 300 now!

Aw, thank you! I am glad to hear some people enjoy the movie-comics, I was not sure if I should keep doing them, since they tend to be a little more obscure. XD

Almost 300 WHAT. Whoa. WHOA. That's startling. Ahahaha, I highly doubt all the incentives will be compiled at any point in time, but I am planning to include a few next time I do books. :3

So, in the extra comic you say you think the name in "Bubo" for the owl is cute. Personally, as a nerd with an ecology degree, I thought it was cheesy. Look up "Bubo" on Wikipedia.

Honestly, I'm not sure why some people think this kind of thing is a good idea.

Still, the stop motion was pretty awesome

What bugs me is that bubo is horned owl while Athena's sacred owl is little owl. Then again, that would mean that Athena's owl would be called Athena and that would be creepy, right.

But it's been a while since I took Latin at school so I can's remember if little owl actually is something like athena in Latin or if that is just made up. And shouldn's they be speaking Greek anyway?

Never seen the movie. Thinking maybe I should.

The origional Clash of the Titans is a great movie! For its time... Nowadays its effects are so bad they make me laugh and cry at the same time. But on the plus side, it's inpired some great campaigns.

I love it when you go to the movies and make into a strip. Do you guys talk this much when you're there?

It really depends! In our defence, this particular instance was at Sebastijan's house rather than an actual theatre, so yelling over the movie was totally acceptable! :"D

We really did talk all over Percy Jackson! But then we only made a few comments over Princess and the Frog. So I guess it depends on how into the film we are. We try not to be loud, though; we mostly whisper to each other.

Oh Clash of the Titans is out? (This is how in tune with the movie world I am.) I think I shall go see it.

Did you see Alice in Wonderland? (I can not recall.)

Nope, the new one's not out yet. We decided to watch the original 1981 film at a friend's house -- I guess in preparation for the new one? Also because the original is amazing. Though I seem to be the only one of our group who thought so. XD

I did see Alice! I enjoyed it highly!
